Do not trust in riches

Reading: Jeremiah 48, 49. Psalm 67, 1 John 1

S: Jeremiah 48:7 Since you trust in your deeds and riches, you too will be taken captive

O: Such was the 'destiny' and 'end result' of Moab who placed their trust & worship of idols instead of God the Creator. They were taken captive and destroyed by the enemy.

A: This evening, I read my previous journal entries and saw that I had placed hope & security in finances. I had prayed for God to increase my finances so that I could be free in my spending or so that I could fulfill my obligation of buying a house. My writing also showed that I had always had a burning/unceasing passion to dance and the only way I knew how was to work full time and get a higher salary to support my dance pursuit. My life was always surrounded by or to support my love and pursuit of dance. Yet, I trusted in finances...

P: Lord Jesus, You are amazing. Lord, I need to stop idolising money and Lord, forgive me. My Lord, I do not want to trust in riches for they are gone as quickly as they come. If I did put my trust in it, I would be taken captive. Lord, I put my trust in You. Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
