For everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Reading: Jeremiah 33, 34, Psalm 74, 1 John 5

S: 1 John 5:4 For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

O: John speaks about the confidence we have as believers of Jesus Christ that all who believe are born of God and therefore overcome the world. There is victory in Jesus!

A: Jesus says that there will be trouble in this world but He has overcome the world. John then says all who believe in Him overcomes the world. Wow! we have overcome fear! We have overcome despair, discouragement and disappointment because we have believed in Jesus and He has given us victory!!

P: My Lord and Saviour! You have saved me from my sins and fear. Lord, there is no fear as I remain in You because You and I will overcome all troubles in the world. Lord Jesus, do not bring me through hard testing beyond what I can bear but lead me in Your righteous path. In Jesus' name, Amen.
